September 5-Standing Forever
Scripture Lesson: 1 Peter 1:22-25
On this date in 1954 playing in the Class C Longhorn League, Joe Bauman of the Roswell Rockets hits three home runs to give him 72 for the season. Although the 32 year-old slugging first baseman never made it to the Major Leagues, his home run record stood as a professional baseball record until it was broken in 2001 when Barry Bonds hit 73. That record will probably never be broken.
Our Scripture lesson today deals with something that will indeed stand forever, the Word of the Lord. God’s Word will stand forever. Other things in this world will pass away but the truth and vitality of God’s Word will always be here for us. His Word is as alive as it was when the words were put to paper. God’s Word will speak to us and will guide us through our daily living. His Word can help us through the tough times of life and draw us closer to Him as we learn from the Word how to better live for Him. There is one key, we must be in His Word every day. God’s Word can do us no good sitting on a shelf collecting dust.
1. How is God’s Word vital and alive today for us?
2. How often do you spend time in His Word?
3. How can we grow closer to God by studying His Word?
Make God’s Word an important part of your daily living for when you do God will show you His way for your life!
