Scripture Lesson: Revelation 21:22-27
On this date in 1845 the first known box score appears in the New York Morning News a month after the first set of rules are written by Alexander Cartwright. The box score gives the reader the opportunity to know what happens in a game even when they cannot see the game live. The box score has been used throughout the generations to document the history of the game.
In today’s Scripture lesson the Apostle John gives us a glimpse of heaven. We find out there is no temple in heaven because God and Jesus reside there. The glory of the Lord is so bright there is no need for sun or moon to provide light! John also tells us the most important statistic of all time, we get into heaven when our names are recorded in the Lamb’s Book of Life. That can only happen when we have publically professed our belief in Jesus as God’s Son, who died for our sins and mistakes and rose from the dead that first Easter morning! Heaven is more wonderful than our human minds can comprehend. To see heaven first hand, we must be in the Lamb’s Book of Life!
1. How do we get in the Lamb’s Book of Life?
2. Are you sure today your name is there? Why or why not?
3. Thank God right now for providing a means to spend eternity with Him in heaven!
The most important statistic of all time is not your batting average or earned run average, it is whether or not you have made that public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!
