Scripture Lesson: Matthew 1:18-21
On this date in 2004 at a luncheon celebration at Union Station, the recently relocated Washington national League franchise announces its new name, logo, and colors. Using the original name of DC’s team which used the nickname Senators from 1901-56, the club clad in red, white, blue, and gold will be known as the Nationals.
Our Scripture lesson today is the story of how Jesus got His name. An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to marry Mary. That the son she would give birth from was from the Holy Spirit and was to be named Jesus. Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Joshua which means the Lord saves. Very fitting name, for Jesus came to this world to save us all from our sins and mistakes.
1. Thank God today for the gift He gave us in Jesus.
2. Describe what Jesus did for you?
3. What do you think Jesus wants us to do for Him today?
Praise God today for sending His Son Jesus to this world to die for our sins and mistakes! Since Jesus died for us may we live each and every day for Him!
