Scripture Lesson: Psalm 119:9-16

Seventeen year old Japanese pitcher Eiji Sawamura, on this date in 1934, gives up only 1 hit, a home run to Lou Gehrig in losing to a touring American All-Star team 1-0. At one point Sawamura strikes out four future Hall of Famers in a row, Charlie Gehringer, Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, and Gehrig.

In today’s Scripture lesson the Psalmist gives us insight on how to keep the ways of a young man pure. That can happen when one seeks God with their whole heart, learns His word, and follows God’s ways. The very same things hold true for each of us today whether we are still young or not.

1.      What does it mean to you to seek God with your whole heart?
2.      How can you learn His Word?
3.      How can you follow His ways?

The things God needs for us to truly live for Him each day have never changed. The question is are we ready to live for him and do what it takes daily to be all His?
