June 6: Saves
Scripture Lesson: John 3:17
On this date in 2007, San Diego Padre closer Trevor Hoffman became
the first reliever in Major League history to record his 500th save.
It took Hoffman 10 pitches in the 9th inning to earn the save,
including an 86 mile-per-hour fastball he threw by Dodger catcher Russell
Martin to seal the 5-3 victory over the Dodgers.
John 3:16 is probably the most familiar verse in the entire Bible,
but I think John 3:17 is just as powerful. God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. The greatest of
all saves did not occur on the baseball field. It occurred on the cross when
Jesus died for our sins and saved all of us from the eternal punishment we all
deserved. Jesus saved humanity by paying the price for our sins, and that was
His only purpose in coming to this world!
motivated God to send Jesus to this world?
does it meant to you that Jesus paid the price for your sin?
we show the Father and His Son our appreciation for what they did for us?
God has done so much for us, what more can we do for Him today?
