June 29: Finding Rest
Scripture Lesson: Matthew 11:28-30
On this date in 1905, with the New York Giants leading the Brooklyn Dodgers 11-1, Archibald “Moonlight” Graham made his Major League debut as a defensive replacement in right field at Brooklyn’s Washington Park. That was the career Minor Leaguer’s only appearance in the big leagues: he never had a major league at bat. Still, Graham became immortalized in the movie “Field of Dreams.”
In today’s text, Matthew recalls how Jesus said that we can come to Him when we are weary and burdened, and he will give us rest. We are also to learn from Him, from his humility and his gentleness. When we commit ourselves to Him, we will find rest for our souls. In this time of hectic schedules, we just need to come before Him and receive rest. We need to spend time with Him to renew our souls.
What make us weary and burdened?
Why is it important to bring our worries and cares to Jesus?
How do we find rest for our souls?
Spend some time with Jesus today getting some rest and renewing your soul!
