December 4-Growing and Developing
Scripture Lesson: Colossians 1:9-14
On this date in 1957, the Major League owners eliminate the bonus rule which was implemented in 1953. The edict required “bonus babies” who signed a contract for more than $4,000 to stay on the Major League roster for two full seasons. This created much resentment with teammates and in many instances delayed the growth and development of talented players.
The apostle Paul was always interested in seeing Christians grow and develop in their faith. These words of encouragement to the Colossians remind them of his prays for them as believers. Paul wants them to live pleasing lives to God that bear fruit for Him. He is grateful they are a part of God’s family, but wants to see them grow in the knowledge of God and how to live better for Him.
1. How are you growing in your walk with God?
2. What kind of fruit are you producing for Him?
3. What does it mean to you to be a part of God’s family?
If we aren’t growing daily in our faith and walk with God then we are not producing the fruit for Him we should be producing. Let’s all grow in faith and go with God each day!
