Scripture Lesson: Luke 22:14-20

On this date in 1966 the Beatles play their last ever concert at the San Francisco Giant’s Candlestick Park.

Today’s Scripture lesson is the account of Jesus’ final Passover meal with his disciples commonly referred to as the Last Supper. During this final meal are the verses today that institute our present day communion, as we remember the broken body and shed blood of our Lord. Jesus commanded us to do this in remembrance of Him and what he did for us on Calvary’s cross. None of us like to think about all the suffering Jesus had to endure for us in the hours after the Last Supper. Sometimes we do need to stop and think what our sins and mistakes cost our Lord.

1. Read these verses prayerfully and thank Jesus for his broken body and shed blood.

2. Why do we not like to think about His suffering?

3. What should His suffering inspire in each of us?

As we remember what Jesus did for us, may we never forget what our sins cost. Each time we are tempted to sin, may we remember the cost!
